The furrier's comb is a copper comb of which one half is set with large teeth (approx. 4 per cm) and the other half with finer teeth (approx. 7 per cm); the tips are always blunt so as not to damage the fur when combing. The furrier can also use another steel comb that is suitable for coarser material, eg that has been affected by moths, or for which the copper comb is not sharp enough.
